Affordable Care Act (ACA) Plans

What is ACA

The Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as the Health Insurance Marketplace, provides affordable health coverage for individuals and families, especially those under 65 who don’t yet qualify for Medicare. These plans are designed to offer comprehensive benefits and protect you from high out-of-pocket costs.

How ACA Differs from Medicare?

ACA plans are designed for:

  • Adults under 65

  • Families without access to employer coverage

  • Individuals in transition (e.g., between jobs or retiring early)

If you’re 65 or older, Medicare is typically the better option. But for younger adults—including early retirees or those with limited income—the ACA provides valuable access to care.

Eligibility & Financial Help

You may qualify for an ACA plan if:

  • You’re a U.S. citizen or legal resident

  • You don't have access to affordable coverage through your employer or government programs

Most people qualify for subsidies or tax credits to lower their monthly premiums based on income and household size. Some may also qualify for cost-sharing reductions to reduce deductibles and copays.
